My memory of our great college president, Dr. Hicks, is positive from start to finish. From our meeting at a Pennsylvania Camp meeting in 1974 to our Farwell on the banks of the Colorado River, his consistent encouragement has been a total blessing to my life.

We sure put in a lottalotta hours in the car to get there (and home again), but Lyle and I agreed that it was worth the time, effort and cost. CFC had such a significant impact on both our lives and it was great to be able to be on the campus again and re-connect with old friends.

I have wonderful memories of Dr. Hicks. He has been one of the greatest influences in my life. He and Sister Hicks were some of my earliest mentors in the ministry. I will never forget his devotion to integrity, to personal discipline, and to biblical Truth.

The Fellowship’s good friend and leader, Dr. Donald E. Hicks, passed away on July 6, 2004 at his home, after a year long battle against pancreatic cancer.
His funeral service was held at Grace Bible Church in Parachute, Colorado on July 9. Officiating clergy included Steve Hicks, David Amrie, Dr. Marvin Powers, Charles Powers, Dr. Ray Easley and Dr. William Sillings.

Here are just a few thoughts about our friend, Dr. Hicks. Each of us makes an impact with the days given to us by our Creator; but occasionally there is a man or woman who stands just a little taller than those around them. In my opinion, Donald Hicks is just such a man.
