A Tribute to Dr. Hicks
by Randy Shaw
Here are just a few thoughts about our friend, Dr. Hicks.
Each of us makes an impact with the days given to us by our Creator; but occasionally there is a man or woman who stands just a little taller than those around them. In my opinion, Donald Hicks is just such a man.
My memories with this great man include humor, a heart for ministry, an undying love for his wife, a deep love for his son and family, a discipline that was hard to follow, an industrious nature that allowed him to build and create many things, and the list goes on. However, when I think of this man, one of the first descriptors that comes to my mind is. . . integrity. He didn’t just work at it—he embodied it.
The longer I live, the more my roots and those from my formative years mean to me. I trust that at the final day, I will hear the same words as this mighty man of God: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Well done, Dr. Hicks. May your legacy live in each of us.
For the glory of Christ,
